A modern gastro lunch in Ljubljana

We knew we wanted to try a tasting meal in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, but we were limited by time. We found the perfect solution in Monstera Bistro, which offered a lunch tasting menu.
We're suckers for a steak tartare, so our starter - a twist on a traditional tartare - was a winner.
The main course was beef cheek - we probably wouldn't have gone double beef for starter and main if we had the choice, but at least it was delicious. Keeping with the theme of reinventing classics, I had a deconstructed plum millefeuille and Patrick had a beautiful pannacotta for dessert.

Having an early lunch left us with plenty of time to explore Ljubljana by boat - and the one we chose just happened to be selling drinks, too!
A three course lunch menu costs just 19 euros, or you can upgrade to four courses for a fantastic 23 euros. A seven course tasting dinner only costs 55 euros, too, so I wish we'd had the time to try it!
